And when Maggie is overjoyed to hear the news and then later devastated when she shows up and Beth is dead.well it just doesn't have the same payoff it would have if Maggie had been tirelessly searching all season. This is a pretty serious slip on the part of the showrunners and writers. Maggie hasn't said even one word about her missing baby sister all season, even though she's the only remaining member of the group unaccounted for. They inform Maggie that her sister is still alive and Maggie suddenly remembers she has a sister. Glenn and Abraham and Maggie show up at the church after Michonne and Carl and Gabriel evacuate thanks to the unwitting priest's foibles. "Coda" is largely about the rescue of Beth. So what starts as a mess, ends as one too. We never saw why the "bad" cops were so powerful as opposed to the "good" cops. Rather than being complex, Dawn just didn't really seem to have any concrete motivations at all, oscillating from decent to despicable in equal measure. The villains were never as villainous as they needed to be. Okay, let's cut to the chase: The hospital and its cops and the whole system there and everything about this second group of antagonists was a huge mess.
